Professional Fight Rules & Regulations
1. Bouts consist of 3 rounds of 3 minutes each with 1 minute breaks.
2. Proposed Title bouts may go up to 4 rounds, 3 minutes each with 1 minute breaks.
3. 8 countdown rule on all matches which renders a KO
4. There is no knockdown rule effective on all Kumaté fights
5. Each round consists of a 12-point must system.
6. Fighter receives two point deductions if knocked down by opponent by way of punch or forceful strike (excludes sweeps and throws).
7. Flash Knockdowns are in effect. A flash knockdown is when a fighter is hit with any technique (either punch or kick) and falls to the canvas but immediately regains his feet and is not visibly effected by the hit. This ruling will be used at the referee's discretion.
8. Fighter cannot be saved by the bell in any round including the last round.
9. Kumaté (fight) may be stopped by the Referee or Physician. In addition, the fighter's corner may stop the fight by stepping onto the ring apron.
10. All hands must be covered with gauze and tape only. No gauze or tape can be applied over the knuckles except for thin strips of tape between the knuckles which connect the backhand wrap to the palm-side of the wrap. No Pads permitted under gloves other than the glove padding itself. Official Inspector must inspect and approve all wrapping & gloves then initial tape.
11. Select fights shall be permitted to use elbow strikes. This determination is based on the experience of fighters and discretion of fight trainers and matchmaker.
Equipment:
1. Standard Boxing Ring (minimum size 20' x 20')
2. Male fighters wear 10 oz Boxing Gloves (lace up with thumb attached)
3. Female fighters wear 8 oz Boxing Gloves (lace up with thumb attached)
4. Fighters are required to wear a mouthpiece (single or double) and must have a spare in corner.
5. Fighters are required to wear Muay Thai shorts or Martial Arts uniform (no MMA shorts, spandex, boxing shorts, etc.)
6. Male fighters required to wear groin cup.
7. Female fighters required to wear breast cups.
8. Fighters may wrap feet/ankles with gauze/tape; however no boxing shoes are permitted.
9. Gauze and Tape:
a. Gauze should be the soft-stretch or soft type, and may not exceed two inches in width.
b. Tape shall be soft adhesive and shall not exceed 1.5 inches in width.
c. May use up to one ten yard roll of gauze, and not more than two yards of tape for each hand.
d. Gauze shall be used for the protection of hand only.
e. Tape shall be used to hold gauze in place only, and may not be placed over the knuckles or used for protection. Only one strip of tape may be placed between fingers.
f. Up to twelve feet of tape may be used to wrap each foot and ankle.
g. The inspector must inspect all hand and foot wrappings, and must sign across each hand before gloves are secured on hands.
h. The wrist of each glove is then taped, and inspector must sign the tape on each glove.
i. No rings or jewelry may be worn during match. All body piercings must be removed.
j. Approved elastic joint supports may be worn on ankles and/or knees.
Legal Strikes:
1. All Boxing and Kicking techniques are allowed.
2. All hand strikes must be executed with a closed fist.
3. Spinning backhand strikes and are allowed with gloved area only.
4. Roundhouse kicks to entire body (above the knee).
5. Back Kicks, Hook Kicks, Spinning Heal Kicks to entire body
6. Standing sweeps to lead leg, rear leg, and inside and outside leg.
7. Sweeping while holding leg is only permitted while using a technique and fighter must let go of leg when fighter falls to the floor and immediately end any further strikes.
8. Front kicks, sidekicks, front sleeper foot check, and spinning back kick to the quadriceps.
9. Catching kicks is permitted, but fighter may not take more than two steps without throwing a technique. After throwing one technique with a caught leg, you must let go.
10. Neck wrestling allowed if followed by a technique. Type of neck wrestling includes two-hand clench around the neck or single hand clench, as well as reverse back of the hand behind the neck pull-down. At no time may fighter strike or grab the throat or trachea.
11. Throws and circle of the clinch allowed at any time. Holding or clinching is permitted as long as fighter is positioning or executing a strike while in the clinch position. Otherwise the referee will break the clinch and restart. If referee has the continued need to break the clinch, then referee may issue warning, deduct points or disqualify the fighter for excessive holding.
12. All elbow strikes allowed on select bouts, based on the style and background of fighter and the discretion of trainer and matchmaker.
13. Knees are permitted to the body, face and head; not to groin or any joints.
Low Round Kick Regulation:
1. Low kicks may be strikes to inside/outside thighs, quadriceps, and hamstrings; as well as inside/outside shins, calves, hips and side of buttocks.
Block Against Knee Strikes from Clinch Position:
1. Double cross arm block at the time opponent is pulling neck down
2. Double elbow block from guarded position (elbows tucked in). Note: Defense cannot use elbows to strike opponents knees. Can only use elbows to protect the body.
Illegal Strikes / Fouls:
1. Ground Fighting or Grappling
2. Strikes to the throat and groin
3. Strikes when fighter is down, during rest period, under care of referee or physician, or after the bell.
4. Strikes to the back of the head or spine
5. Strikes to the Kidney area.
6. Straight kicks to the knees (from any angle).
7. Turning back to opponent, timidity
8. Head Butting
9. Knees to the back of the head.
10. Hits on ground.
11. Biting
12. Clinching opponent's lower back
13. Trapping of opponent arm while executing strikes
14. Eye Gouging
15. Biting
16. Hair pulling
17. Fish hooking
18. Spiking opponent to canvas on his/her head
19. Throwing opponent out of ring
20. Spitting at an opponent.
21. Unsportsmanlike Conduct
22. Holding the ropes
23. Abusive Language
24. Disregarding referees instructions
25. Interference by corner
Winning Factors:
1. KO
2. TKO
3. Disqualification of opponent
4. Winning by judges majority decision
5. Opponent forfeits / No Contest
Penalties:
1. Two fouls will result in disqualification by Referee.
2. Timidity or turning your back – Referee will warn 1 time, 2nd time results in point deduction, 3rd time results in TKO win to opponent.
3. Accidental illegal strike or head butt. Referee decides whether or not bout will continue with or without consultation with a ringside physician. If the fight cannot continue before 3 rounds have been completed, the outcome will be a NO CONTEST. If the fight cannot continue after 3 rounds have been completed, the outcome will be determined by the scorecards including partial rounds if initiated.
4. If decision is made to continue fight after an accidental low blow, fighter can take 3 minutes recovery time and the referee will deduct 2 points from the penalized fighter.
5. Unethical conduct will not be tolerated and will result in disqualification from all Shin Do Kumaté Bouts.
6. Intentional fouls will result in a point deduction followed by disqualification if repeated.
7. Accidental foul will result in a warning. A repeat of accidental foul will result in a point deduction as determined by the referee. Continued fouls may result in disqualification.
Fighter Requirements:
1. All pro fighters must be at least 18 years of age
2. Required Medicals include the following (or as outlined by sanctioning body):
3. Hepatitis B & C Test Results (must have been tested within 12 months prior to event)
4. Dilated eye exam (must have been tested within 12 months prior to event)
5. Female fighters must bring sealed pregnancy test to weigh in and consult with weigh-in physician
6. Following items must be delivered to WSDKA
7. Signed Contract & Liability Release Form
9. Updated Fighter Bio
10. Past fight video (or links to videos online)
11. High resolution photograph in fight pose
12. Completed Fighter Questionnaire
13. Completed Medical Questionnaire
